Web Services for Remote Portlets

In March 2002, the OASIS Group, an international standards body that promotes web services and other electronic business communication standards, formed the Web Services Remote Portlets (WSRP) Technical Committee. OASIS defines WSRP as a specification for visual, user-facing components (portlets) that plug-and-play with portals and other consumers that display or aggregate content from different remote sources. The WSRP Technical Committee was chartered to produce the technical documents that specify the web service interfaces and technical contracts for enabling portlets and portals to be implemented on any web services-capable platform. Version 1.0 of the WSRP specification was approved as an OASIS standard in August, 2003 and version 2.0 was approved in April, 2008. OASIS continues to actively develop and advance the WSRP standard.
